SB 1379 (authored by Senators Perata and Ortiz; co-authored by Assemblymember Laird) will create the nation’s first statewide, community based biomonitoring program to measure chemical contamination in members of the general public and make the information available to public health planners. They spoke at a media briefing and release of the EWG report, Across Generations. This report examines the first biomonitoring tests on California moms and daughters who participated in a study to measure toxic pollution in their blood. Participants in the study also share their stories and why they believe California must take national leadership in tracking pollution in people.
