Making Old Jacksonville New – Week of April 28, 2008

Beginning Monday, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to begin resurfacing FM 2493 (Old Jacksonville Highway) between FM 2813 in Gresham and FM 346 in Flint. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled to last five days. Daytime lane closures will be in effect after 8 a.m. to allow for rush-hour traffic, but may be in place until sunset as the crew tries to complete the job in as few days as possible. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid delays. Meanwhile, in Longview, the scheduled date for crews to return to the raised-medians project on Loop 281 in Longview has been moved to Tuesday, April 29. Crews will be performing resurfacing operations that are scheduled to last into June. This work constitutes the bulk of the remaining work on this project. Also, a quick look at other lane closures planned for this week and a project planned for downtown Palestine.

TxDOT's Rusk Maintenance Section rebuilds the inside edge of a curve on FM 839 near New Salem in Cherokee County. Crews dug out the failing edge and the area around it, back-filled it with hot mix and rolled it.
