  TxDOT's North Tyler Maintenance Section and the Special Jobs Crew apply an 'edge seal' to the shoulders of FM 16 near Winona. Edge seal helps preserve the edges of the pavement, which is the weakest part of any roadway, by sealing water out. The work is often done after crews have worked to repair the edges.
