Assemblyman Haynes explains why Republicans had to fight a five-day battle to stop Democrats from allowing the legal possession of thousands of child pornography images through their passage of Assembly Bill 50. AB 50, authored by San Francisco Assemblyman Mark Leno, a Democrat who serves as chairman of the Public Safety Committee, sought to weaken Jessica’s Law. Jessica’s Law, a measure that will be considered by California voters this year, increases the penalties and sentencing for possession of child porn, tracks child predators and does a number of other things to protect children from the worst of our society.
